Manchester City vs. Fulham

Fulham were back in great form and condemned Mark Hughes’ men to their third consecutive draw.

Hughes' men were cruising home when Martin Petrov fired home their second on the hour, seven minutes after Joleon Lescott had knocked home the opener.

But eight minutes later the visitors were back on level terms when first Damien Duff and then Dempsey fired past Shay Given to lend another twist to an action-packed game.

An entertaining first half saw the visitors waste two good early opportunities with Diomansy Kamara taking a heavy touch after beating the offside trap which allowed Shay Given to claim before Jonathan Greening fired wide.

The home side slowly began to dominate with Carlos Tevez heading just over the bar on the half hour mark from a Martin Petrov cross before Micah Richards did find the back of the net before seeing his effort disallowed just before the break.

Yet it was defender Joleon Lescott, who opened the scoring early in the second half.

In less than 10 min, the home side had doubled their lead through Martin Petrov. Gareth Barry found the Bulgarian on the edge of the box and he beat his defender before smashing a fine shot past Mark Schwarzer.

Stephen Kelly out wide on the left crossed for Bobby Zamora who chested the ball into Damien Duff’s path and the Republic of Ireland international slotted a strong drive low and past Given.

Clint Dempsey put up a superb header past Given and within five minutes pushed City back on the top with an equalizer.

The goals seemed to fill Roy Hodgson’s men with confidence and they continued to press with Zamora shooting wide before Given saved Brede Hangeland’s header and Dempsey headed over.

Despite five minutes of stoppage time the visitors had to be content with a point, that looked unlikely at one stage but will undoubtedly please manager Hodgson after a busy week.
