Bolton Wanderers vs. Chelsea

The Blues started the match brilliantly and Branislav Ivanovic, who was an attacking threat as well as a defensive stalwart for the away side throughout the 90 minutes, looked to have opened the scoring around the half hour mark but the offside flag was raised much to Chelsea's frustration.

It was left to Jlloyd Samuel to hand Chelsea the opportunity they needed to open the scoring just before half time, with the Bolton man bringing down Didier Drogba in the box. Samuel was sent off for his troubles and Frank Lampard made no mistake in converting the resulting penalty.

Bolton made two half-time changes, sending on Ricardo Gardner and Paul Robinson for Basham and Lee, as boss Gary Megson plumped for experience now.

Drogba was booed every time he touched the ball by Bolton's fans, but he did not dive for the penalty having been clearly caught from behind.

Jaaskelainen made fine saves twice at the feat of the Ivory Coast star, and then from an Anelka effort before Lampard crossed an 18-yard effort against the bar.

Robinson was booked for a foul on Ivanovic before Jaaskelainen beat away a fierce Anelka drive after the former Bolton man had cruised past three defenders

Chelsea broke from defence after 61 minutes, former Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka to set up Deco for the second, with the third going in off a combination of Branislav Ivanovic and Wanderers defender Zat Knight before Drogba claimed the fourth.
